This course is an introduction to industry-standard graphics applications (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) for the beginning digital artist. The intent of the class is to integrate digital skills seamlessly into the artist’s skill set – the computer is not a replacement for traditional skills, but an exciting augmentation that must be used in a highly disciplined manner to be successful. These powerful digital tools will enable students to manipulate and lay out images and text and export projects for printing and on-screen viewing. Projects will be assigned to help students develop their technical skills as well as conceptual and formal design skills.
